The Pike appears in the first book and the TV series. The pike is encountered by Toad and Mole when they go fishing after the animals have crossed the river. In the book Toad sees the pike while he is underwater and hides from it in the reeds. He then alerts Mole and they quickly get out of the river. In the TV series, Toad sees the pike and leaves the river immediately, leaving Mole behind. The pike swims right underneath Mole and tickles him, but Mole thinks it is Toad. When he realises what is happening Mole quickly gets out of the river to join Toad.
