The Animals of Farthing Wood is a fictional story about a group of woodland animals who leave their Farthing Wood home and travel to a nature reserve called White Deer Park. It was originally a book by Colin Dann and developed into a series of books with seven further releases. The books were later adapted into a TV series which was shown in various European countries.

The first book was originally published in 1979 as a stand alone book and told the story of the animals' journey from Farthing Wood to White Deer Park. The book was written by Colin Dann, a keen naturalist who was inspired to write the book by his concern for the vanishing countryside and its effect on wild animals.

The success of the book led to the release of six sequels detailing the adventures of the animals once they reached White Deer Park, and a prequel showing how Farthing Wood came to be destroyed. All eight books in the series were written by Colin Dann and they were originally published between 1979 and 1994.

TV seriesEdit

The TV series based on the books was created by the European Broadcasting Union and was first broadcast in various European countries between 1992 and 1995. It was produced by Telemagination, based in London, and La Fabrique, based in Montpellier in France. Three series of the show were produced, featuring a total of 39 episodes.
